Organic Rankine Cycle (ORC) System

ORC System – Turn Low-grade Heat into Clean Power

Harnessing heat that would otherwise be wasted—our ORC System converts low and medium temperature thermal energy into electricity and usable heat, offering high-efficiency, low-maintenance power generation. With compact modular design and advanced organic-fluid thermodynamics, our ORC system delivers a smart solution for industrial facilities, commercial campuses and renewable-energy applications.

Key benefit summary

Featured ORC Models

A model to fit your thermal source and power requirement.

Model ORC-200 – 200 kW electric output; ideal for process-heat recovery in manufacturing.

  • Model ORC-500 – 500 kW output, optimised for waste-heat from boilers, turbines or flares.
  • Model ORC-1000 – 1 MW output, suited for large-scale cogeneration, geothermal or biomass plants.
  • Model ORC-Modular – scalable units up to 5 MW, multiple modules in parallel for flexibility.

How the ORC System Works

The Organic Rankine Cycle follows a closed thermodynamic loop: an organic fluid is pumped, evaporated via the thermal source, expanded through a turbine or expander, condensed and returned to the pump. Unlike traditional steam cycles, the ORC uses a working fluid with a lower boiling point, enabling electricity generation from lower-temperature heat sources.  Key process steps (list):

  • Heat is extracted from the process (e.g., waste exhaust, hot water, geothermal) and transferred to the ORC evaporator.
  • The organic fluid vaporises and drives the expander/turbine generating electricity.
  • The vapour is condensed back to liquid and the cycle repeats.
  • Optional: waste heat from the condenser can be reused for thermal load (combined heat & power).

Why this matters:

  • Lower pressure/temperature operation than steam cycles → simpler design, fewer corrosion/erosion issues.
  • Closed‐loop with organic fluid means minimal water consumption, ideal for site constraints.

Industries & Sectors

Our ORC system is engineered for versatile deployment across industries where low-to-medium temperature heat streams exist.

 List:

  • Oil & Gas – Upstream, Downstream industries
  • Heavy industry: cement, glass, steel, petrochemical – capture flue gases or hot exhaust.
  • Manufacturing & process plants: boilers, thermal oxidisers, compressor stations.
  • Renewable & distributed energy: biomass, geothermal, solar-thermal plants.
  • Commercial & institutional campuses: central heating plants, chilled-water systems, dedicated energy centres.
  • Data centres / large-scale buildings: recover waste heat from cooling systems or generator sets.

Key Applications

  • Waste Heat Recovery (WHR) from industrial processes – convert “lost” thermal energy into electricity.
  • Combined Heat & Power (CHP) – generate electricity while using condenser heat for thermal loads.
  • Geothermal / biomass power plants – small to medium scale generation using lower‐temperature resources.
  • Stand-alone power generation – remote or off-grid sites where traditional steam systems are impractical.
  • Micro-grid / distributed generation – compact, modular units for flexibility and local resilience.
